My 4.0 V8 Jaguar S-Type has taken a break for a month to try and split the annual double insurance hit for the Jag and the Galaxy…. During that month the battery went very flat and required a jolly good charge! All seemed well!

I had to go into work to do a Disaster Planning Test, and was due to pick up one of my colleagues. I had left the car on a charger but when I took it of the display did not look quite right VOLTAGE wise. anyway she fired up perfectly 🙂

I drove off the drive round the corner and just before hitting the main road she just cut out!!! I had fortunately, got a “jumper” battery sitting in the boot, I hopped out (avoiding bemused drivers) and closed the drivers door, and went to open the boot. The electric release did not work! I went back to retrive the key from the ignition only to find the central locking (which had been playing up) had locked the drivers door!!

I had to abandon the car, run back round the corner, get the spare key, unlock the boot, connect the jumper, unlock the door and start the car!

I made it to my colleagues on time, and the “DR” test turned to crap, but I get paid for that anyway!!

She cut out again last night but has done 4 further trips without issues. I think maybe a dry relay joint from sitting in the cold and wet for a month is/was the issue…
